How to get here

🚶‍♀️ Getting to Koala and River Cruises by Foot

Whether you’re staying in the city or exploring South Bank, reaching the Cultural Centre Pontoon is easy and scenic.


🏙️ From Brisbane City (CBD)

Walking time: Approx. 10–15 minutes

  1. Head towards Queen Street Mall or King George Square.

  2. Walk across the Victoria Bridge, which crosses the Brisbane River.

  3. If you are crossing on the left hand side of the bridge , you’ll see the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and the BRISBANE sign on your left.
    Follow the river on the Promenade going below the bridge you just crossed and the Cultural Centre Pontoon is 200m on your right.

  4. If you are crossing on the right hand side of the bridge, you’ll see the Cultural Centre Pontoon on your right.
    When you get off the bridge, make a right turn and follow the path until you see some stairs going down to the river on your right, you are now looking straight at the Miramar II

🌿 From South Bank Parklands

Walking time: Approx. 5–10 minutes (depending on where you start)

  1. Walk along the Southbank Promenade, which runs beside the river through the Parklands.

  2. Head west (toward the Victoria Bridge) until you reach Streets Beach or the Wheel of Brisbane.

  3. Continue past the Brisbane Riverstage and the BRISBANE sign

  4. Once you reach the Victoria Bridge, follow the river further on the Promenade going below the bridge and the Cultural Centre Pontoon is 200m on your right.

Catch the bus

There are two convenient bus stop options within a 5-minute walk of the Cultural Centre Pontoon:

1. Cultural Centre Bus Station (Stop NR1)
Currently undergoing final renovations, this major transport hub is ideal for visitors arriving from the city via Brisbane Metro or other major bus routes.

2. Gallery of Modern Art Bus Stop (Stop NR2)
Located closer to the Cultural Centre Pontoon, this stop offers the shortest walk to the cruise departure point. However, it is served by a more limited number of bus routes.

By Rideshare / Taxi

🚖 Getting to Koala and River Cruises by Rideshare or Taxi

Taking a rideshare (such as Uber, DiDi, or Ola) or taxi is a convenient way to reach the Cultural Centre Pontoon, especially if you’re short on time or carrying luggage.


📍 Destination to Enter

“Queensland Art Gallery, Stanley Place, South Brisbane”
This address will bring you to the closest and most accurate drop-off point for the cruise departure.

💡 Avoid entering “Cultural Centre” alone in your app, as it may direct you to the nearby bus station or theatre entrances, which are a short walk away from the pontoon.
Really short on time? Ask the driver to pass the bus stop and turn left into the Cultural Centre Tunnel, turn right in the roundabout and you will see a tunnel opening on the left.
Mirimar II is just outside.


🚗 Drop-Off Instructions

  • Ask your driver to drop you at GoMA bus stop, near the entrance to the Queensland Art Gallery.

  • From there, it’s just a 2–3 minute walk down to the Cultural Centre Pontoon by the riverside.

  • Look for the Cultural Centre Pontoon signage as you head towards the water.
